Holy Week Services

At the conclusion of the season of Lent, we enter a special period of time called Holy Week. We gather as a group of three churches to commemorate once again the events of the passion and crucifixion of our Lord and Saviour.

On Sunday 29th we gather at our sister church St Saviour's for Palm Sunday, marking our Lord's entry into Jerusalem. There will be a public procession as part of this service - if you are uncomfortable walking distance then please remain in church during the procession.

On Thursday 2nd April we are at St Wilfrid's for the Mass of the Lord's Supper, the celebration of the Mandatum (foot washing) and procession to the altar of repose as we wait with Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane.

On Good Friday (3rd April) we are at St Saviour's for the Liturgy of Good Friday, commemorating Jesus' crucifixion with the solemn reading of the Passion. On Easter-Eve or Holy Saturday, we are at St Wilfrid's for the Easter Vigil, a service that includes deep and rich symbolism as we journey from creation to redemption in our Lord's glorious resurrection from the dead.

These services are joint for all our churches, please do make a special effort to come and worship alongside fellow Christians in our benefices as we journey into this most holy time of year.
